Easy Strawberry Heart Skewers
These beautiful treats are quick to make and fun to eat. First, position a freshly washed strawberry flat on its side with the stem facing away from you. Grab a small, heart-shaped cookie cutter. Line up the bottom of the heart with the bottom of the strawberry. Then, push the cutter all the way through the fruit. You’ll have a perfectly shaped strawberry heart to thread onto a bamboo skewer. Try alternating the hearts with green grapes for extra color. Or, dip a few strawberries halfway into melted chocolate before skewering for a delectable dessert. Lay them gently on a silver serving tray for a charming display. You can also create a bright bouquet. Add a block of floral foam to a vase and fill it up with these skewers of berry bites.
Colorful Confetti Popcorn
Here’s the perfect snack for a cozy night in! This festive white chocolate popcorn recipe is pretty enough to display in a large bowl and delicious enough to eat to the bottom. First, melt 12 ounces of white chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler. Then, slowly pour the melted chocolate over 8 cups of plain popped popcorn. Toss it gently with a large spoon to cover all the pieces evenly. Spread the popcorn over a large baking sheet covered with foil or parchment. Sprinkle the popcorn with a half-teaspoon of salt, heart-shaped sprinkles, pastel nonpareils and a box of conversation hearts. Let your confection cool for about 10 minutes to harden the chocolate. Then, gently break up the pieces with a fork or spoon for serving. For an extra touch of Valentine’s fun, serve the popcorn in a martini glass.
Heart Healthy Apples
Wow your Valentine’s Day guests with this magical take on a heart-healthy apple. Gather enough green and red apples for each guest, or to fill a tiered stand for display. Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, press the cutter through the thick upper part of the apple. Wiggle the cutter around before pulling it back out. Then, use a butter knife to carefully pry the heart shape free. Repeat these steps on a bright red apple, being careful not to damage the red heart you create. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice on the exposed inner apple. Then, place the red heart inside the green apple’s heart-shaped hole to create a perfect match. Do the same for the red apple and green heart. It’s easy to make as many of these as you need. Simply purchase equal numbers of red and green apples. These healthy snacks make great Valentine’s treats ideas for children and adults.
Dipped Cookie Pops
Easily customize these fun cookie pops for a pretty and delicious treat. Grab a box of your favorite sandwich cookies and a bag of 4" lollipop sticks. Melt 12 ounces of white chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler. While the chocolate is melting, separate the sandwich cookies into halves. Then, dip the top of a lollipop stick into the melted white chocolate and sandwich it between the two cookie halves. While the cookie pops cool, pour the melted chocolate into a tall glass just deep enough to cover the cookie top. One at a time, dip the cookie pops into the warm chocolate to cover them completely. Remove and cool them on a lined cookie sheet. Decorate your pops with heart-shaped sprinkles and colorful nonpareils while they’re still warm, or wait until after cooling to frost them with initials or piped heart designs.
Cupid’s Pink Cocoa
This enchanting treat is the perfect potion for Valentine’s Day festivities. In a small saucepan, gently warm 8 ounces of pre-made strawberry milk. Or, add strawberry milk powder or concentrate to 8 ounces of plain milk. Vigorously whisk the milk while warming to create a bubbly froth. Pour the warmed milk into decorative mugs. Top each mug with freshly whipped cream and a sprinkle of red sugar crystals. Then, assemble a festive drink garnish with a small drink skewer or bamboo pick poked through a strawberry heart, heart-shaped marshmallow or even a chocolate truffle. Place the garnish over the top of the mug for a toasty Valentine’s treat. Serve this drink with a small plate of warm sugar cookies.
